ART DECO CENTRAL SUMMARY:
Welcome to Art Deco Central Wanaka, a beautifully newly built, well presented alpine home that’s contemporary and spacious.

During summer, the sliding doors can be opened to provide a great indoor/outdoor flow into the private courtyard. During winter, the gas fire will keep you warm.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS
The master bedroom features a queen bed with an ensuite and ranch sliders that open out to the private yard. The other two bedrooms have single beds which include a trundler bed under each (where one is stored under the other) and can act as a joined double.

A copy of the guest’s photo ID (Drivers’ Licence and/or Passport) is required upon finalising of the booking.

This is a great cosy house it’s nice and warm and just felt like being at home. It is walkable distance to the lake and surrounding areas

Perfect spot for our stay to compete in the Motatapu sports event and walking distance into town.
Almost brand new build so everything is clean and tidy
Bed layout is a little strange it would be nice to have second proper double bed although all the singles were comfortable

My husband and I enjoyed our stay however there were a few things we were disappointed with. The home is modern and very comfortable and in a great location. The neighbourhood is quiet although the home is in a bit of a fish bowl. There is no privacy from the (very close neighbours) which we weren't expecting. The extra charges are very high and although we only used two single beds, the linen charge was $210 for 5 nights! None of the other bedding was touched! Also, the cleaning fee seemed high ($175) considering we left the place cleaner than when we arrived. We couldn't sit on the outside chairs as they were filthy...one of the toilets wasn't up to standard. To top it all off after the extra charges, we had to take our garbage to the dump! It would have been nice to have a few condiments in the kitchen like spices and oil but found only the very basics. The space was excellent and the beds and furniture very good but overall we didn't find the cost to stay there worth the expense.

Thank you for your feedback, Michael. Here at Goodstays we operate self catering holiday homes for those who want to experience Queenstown or Wanaka like a local. While we do provide a few essentials such as dishwashing liquid, several rubbish bags and toilet rolls, everything outside of this needs to be provided by the guest themselves. Having said this, each property usually have some extra items left by previous guests which you are more than welcome to use. I am sorry to hear that you found the cleaning fees to be excessive, here at Goodstays we pay our housekeeping team a living wage and thoroughly clean each property prior to arrival and following each departure, additionally we have our linen professionally laundered to ensure a comfortable stay for each guest. In addition to this, the linen charge is based on the entire house, as we do not rent bedrooms separately. The house was certainly satisfactory. We had some issues to address on arrival. Bearing in mind we had booked and paid for 6 persons
The first time I used the gas it petered out, the gas bottles were empty. I rang the guest services and was told the bottles were checked prior to our arrival and there was gas enough... clearly this is not the case, we hadn't even used any gas appliances the first night of our stay. Also we had 2 very small cooking pots, how I was supposed to cook for 6 people with them was a misery to me. The bottles were kindly replaced and we were given 2 large pots, much appreciated this prompt service.
When booking the property it was a consideration for us to have a garage, this was my understanding with this property BUT on arrival there was a car parked in it which made it unusable for us.
We had problems with the TV - we had someone come over to help and fixed the situation, however a day later we lost the tv again. After attempting to get back up and running went through all possibilities as discussed previously. There was no signal, I rang to advise guest services, they said they would send someone the next day and leave the tv going, this did not happen. I sent an email to followup and rang again the following night. I was told there had been 3 visits already to the house since our arrival and told just to enjoy my holiday !! I asked for the Manager to call me the next day, this did not happen. Consequently we spent the rest of our stay without a television for basic channel viewing. Also I had told them the 2 gas rings on the stove were not working, if you look at the correspondence you will see, the respondent suggest they will get the gas bottles checked. In no way was this related to the available gas it was entirely a problem with the gas top. I have the same unit at home and defiantly know how they work. This problem also was never resolved in the end we left a note for the cleaners.
